Waterproofing Products

Waterproofing is the process of making an object or structure waterproof or water-resistant so that it remains relatively unaffected by water or resisting the ingress of water under specified conditions. Our waterproofing products include:

1. Membrane

2. Tarfelt

3. Industrial Bitumen

These products are manufactured via STP Ltd. and HPCL.

MEMBRANE

A waterproofing membrane is a thin layer of water-tight material that is laid over a surface. This layer is continuous and does not allow water to pass through it. For example, on a flat terrace, a waterproofing membrane could be laid above the structural slab and below the finish tiles.

Depending on the structure and need, the waterproofing membrane can either be applied to the interior (negative), such as the case with repairs, the exterior (positive), or in places inaccessible by people (blindside).

Positive waterproofing membranes are applied to the exterior face of a structure. It can be applied above, below, or at grade to surfaces that will get wet due to exposure to weather conditions and the surrounding soil.

Negative side waterproofing is applied to the interior face of a structure. It keeps water from entering an occupied space and is applied to what is known as the dry face.

TARFELT

TarFelt consists of a centre core of hessian adequately coated on both sides with oxidized bituminous compound. Mica / sand is then spread over on both faces to prevent inter-sticking of layers.

Application:

TarFelt is recommended as an economical waterproofing system. It can be applied over various types of surfaces such as concrete, corrugated asbestos or GI sheet, timber, shell / folded plates, etc. It is also used for waterproofing of silos, grain godowns, warehouses, wagons, trams, buses, etc.

Advantages:

Proven first generation waterproofing membrane and recommended for non critical over ground application.

Economical with limited life.

Dimensional stability with pliability to adopt to all contours.

INDUSTRIAL BITUMEN

Industrial Bitumen is a dark, petroleum residue modified by the oxidation process. Its consistency ranges from highly viscous to solid. Industrial Bitumen is a safe and inexpensive material which has multiple uses in industry and a wide range of applications and has characteristics of Waterproofing, Plasticity, Adhesion and resistance towards acid and alkalis. It also makes an efficient electrical insulator, because it has excellent dielectric strength.

Application:

In building floors: damp-proofing and waterproofing; acid-alkali resistant flooring, conductive flooring; sparkless flooring.

In building/roofing: manufacture of roofing felts, adhesives, primers, damp-proof coating compositions, liquid roof coatings, plastic cements and hot carriage roofing compounds.

Hydro projects: canal lining, embankment, hydraulic structure, dam lining protection and sand stabilisation.

Roads: construction and maintenance.

Industrial use: lamination, manufacture of caulking compounds, joint fillers, rubber extenders, battery sealing compounds, cable filling compounds etc

Advantages:

Easy to apply.

Excellent durability.

Comparatively cheaper and widely available.
